Sophie Duncan is the Startup Engagement Manager at ClimateHaven where they develop and manage meaningful ways to engage the ClimateHaven community through workshops, programs, and events that ensure the startup founders benefit from our community and build lasting connections with each other and the greater ClimateHaven ecosystem.
Sophie’s wide ranging and interdisciplinary interests and experiences inform their engagement work. Previously, as the Equitable Stewardship Manager for The Nature Conservancy in Connecticut, Sophie lead collaborative efforts to increase access to nature through arts-based and interactive community engagement strategies. Before moving to New Haven, Sophie worked with the Indigenous Initiatives team at the University of British Columbia to develop dynamic curricular resources, contributed to native seed collection in northern New Mexico, and conserved specimens of New England Flora in the Brown University Herbarium.
They completed their MSc in Biogeography at the University of British Columbia, after receiving their undergraduate degree from Brown University in Classics and Environmental Studies. When Sophie is not at work, Sophie is a visual and graphic artist and can be found swimming in Long Island Sound or doodling outside with their dog Gromit.
